She wants to get parts of her code removed. It should be possible to hack her to get her what she wants. I know where to find the code, but I don't know how to actually do the hack.
How much do you know about the security features in her code or hardware to prevent such tampering? I need to be more familiar with her systems or systems like hers.
Our bodies run on more or less the exact same code. Maybe a few advancements. I know I'm an older model compared to her. But it should be close enough.
She's full YoRHa android. I never made it all the way there. My brain is still human, and I've never run into the same restrictions that she wants to get rid of. If I had to guess, they live inside whatever counts for an android brain.
It's risky. It's enormously risky, and hugely difficult. But I've -- well, my consciousness has spent time trapped within the code while A2 came out to play instead. If anyone around here is equipped to look inside 2B and tell you what parts to delete, it'd be me.
Confirming: You're a human-android split construct with both a human and android consciousness; you're the human half, A2 the anroid half. She's pure bot android.
I am not sure what I can tell her without triggering a security protocol. I've asked her. I'd appreciate your answer too.
A2 knows all of the secrets of YoRHa and I don't think she ever tripped a security protocol. I think all it did with her was make her realize that everything YoRHa stands for is a lie. Which could probably be worse than a security breach, but I don't know how much of the truth 2B even knows now. I don't think it's a lot. In all of A2's memories, she's already dead.
Can I access A2? Her knowledge sounds pointedly relevant. So long as it doesn't threaten your existence, I'd like to learn more before anyone dives further into 2B.
That's the hard part for me. I don't know how to bring her soul out to, like, the forefront? I guess. I know she can do it, but I don't think it's easy for either of us. Without something bad happening to me first.
Yeah. A2 killed her, but 2B was already going to go insane from a logic virus. It was a mercy kill, and she begged A2 to protect the future in her stead.
It's your call what you're willing to do. It's hard to judge risk with so many unknown variables. However, I'd hazard a guess that it's less risky to do "something bad" to bring A2 out than to send you diving blind into 2B. It's horrible, but there's always the option for the worst reset on the planet (I'm talking about death here). That might happen to you either way. A dive into 2B gone bad, I don't know if an execution will reset security measures.
I know I brought up dying, but I've really had enough of that being the answer to things.
Trust me, I'm tired of it, too. If we can pull this off without anyone dying, that's definitely, like, the best outcome. If I can make A2 come out, I'd be glad to let her talk to you and 2B about this. She's been with me for a few years, but last month was the first time she ever did anything like this.
I might have jumped the gun on this. I don't think all the pieces are ready yet. I just heard that 2B was struggling and I felt like I had to do something about it.
Oh we are far from ready. You may have jumped the gun, but I haven't. I had her book last month. After she couldn't share confidential information, I started doing my homework. I've died a whole ass lot of times in the memory, but that's not nearly so bad as dying in Trench.
As much as it sucks, it's worth doing this right. Hacking isn't combat. If they see your work, 90% of the time you're done for.
Her book? Christ, what did I miss out on this time? There's a book with a memory in it and you keep dying in the memory? Listen, I know I just met you but that does seem like a little, uh, torturous.
You missed out? There was a book with a memory in it. A bunch of ravens stole it back at the end of the month. It was a combat memory that ended in 2B and 9S's deaths. It wasn't fun, but it's not lasting damage. It was free information with no other costs. I was analyzing what I could about the hardware and software systems. Whenever I got booted out, I recorded as much as I could remember while inside the memory. I wrote code to learn more and wrote it from scratch over twenty times so I could write it from scratch in the memory. It was a lot of grunt work.
Oh, so this is what Never Mind's been up to this time around. Beats the hell out of the blood river full of my loved ones' corpses. I wouldn't say I missed out. I didn't get the exact memory you're talking about, but I've still seen Tubes and Nines bite it more times than I care to count.
I gotta say, you put a lot more thought into it than I would've. You're damn good at this.
I got the blood river too :/ What is it with your universe and not counting deaths? It's not like knowing the number makes it worse.
That's what I do or did before "wah wah if you want to live here you have to agree not to hack anything" station (pre-Trench). Trench has been light on the tech to hack, and I am not interested in 'hacking' blood stuff.
We have some starting point. If you get wind of any of these Pthumerian events that might tell us more, please let me know.
Well, MY universe doesn't go past one for most people. There was one guy who hit two on the death counter and this made a lot of people extremely angry. Counting deaths is a new concept for me.
I'll keep you updated. I don't think Cloverfield is in the business of repeating traumatic memories, but I think we have a couple winter holidays coming up that would help with that. And that's definitely not something I'm going to miss out on this time around, if they're as helpful for me as last year's.
Right. 2B and I aren't from the same universe, even though we have the same body and code. It's complicated. Don't worry about it. (I have a feeling you are going to worry about it.)
There was a ritual we could perform last winter called a Winter Mourning that allowed us to travel into our own memories. I used it to find out that A2 was still here with me, for example.
I'm not sure if you get a choice in what the memory is. But... not to get too deep into it, but when I first came here, I didn't know if A2 had come with me. I hadn't heard from her in a long time, and without my body changing and transforming the way it had been doing, it wasn't always easy for me to tell if she was still here. When I walked into that Winter Mourning, though, I walked right into a memory from her. One I didn't already know. That's how I knew she was still with me.
Sounds like a plan to me. I need some time to get my notes together, but I think I still have the specifics written down from home. You drink? I have this bar I like hanging out at. Good for talking.
How much time? I don't drink or like discussing sensitive matters where other people can hear. Trench isn't like where I'm from, but I can't kick that habit. If drinking would ease conversation for you, I can come to your quarters.

It's lightyears beyond a blind hack.

That raises more questions. How did that let you learn about A2?
Do you have to remember your memory to travel into it?
